Mark Jay Formsma, age 76, of Adrian, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 6th, 2025. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Diane, his son Steven (Robin Johnson) Formsma of Austin, Texas, son Gregory (Mikaela) Formsma of Tecumseh, Michigan, Three adored grandchildren Carson Formsma, Callie Formsma, and Cohen Formsma. Sister Linda (Gary) Lampton. Mark is preceded in death by his father Jay Formsma and beloved mother Jeanne Formsma. Mark was born in Holland, Michigan on August 22,1949. At the age of 17 he met his future wife in Livonia and after marrying in 1973 the two moved to Otsego, Michigan in 1979. While both serving the Michigan Public School system, they welcomed their first son Steven in April 1980 and their second son Gregory in 1982. After decades of commitment to public education, Mark and Diane retired to Corpus Christi, Texas for 13 years before returning back to Michigan to watch their grandchildren grow up. Mark enjoyed participating in car shows, taking meticulous care of his Packard, Corvette and Mercedes throughout the years. When he wasn’t in a car, you would find him on Lake Michigan or Torch Lake listening to Jimmy Buffett. One of his favorite and cherished memories was attending and participating in the Woodward Dream Cruise with his two sons for his 75th birthday. Mark loved spending time with his grandchildren and was proud of them all. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the amazing home hospice staff from Elara Caring Hospice (Adrian, Michigan). The gentle care and kindness brought comfort and peace to Mark and all of us during his final days.
