ADRIAN — The Lenawee Historical Museum says its landscaping has taken on some unexpected color after staff discovered a number of painted rocks mixed into the new river-rock beds around the building.
The museum recently installed 15 tons of grey river rock. During a walkthrough, staff noticed several brightly painted stones placed close to the building. After a closer look, they found a dozen or more hidden throughout the landscaping.
The stones feature simple designs such as faces, initials, flowers, and single-color paint. Museum staff say the additions appear to have been placed quietly and are visible only when walking close to the building.
The museum is encouraging visitors to stop by and view the ongoing renovations and the unexpected additions to the grounds.
