ADRIAN — The family of the three missing Morenci children has issued a statement following the filing of six felony charges against their father, John Russell Skelton.

The statement, obtained through Facebook, acknowledges the new arrest warrant and describes the development as deeply painful. The family said they were notified that Skelton — who was scheduled for release later this month after serving a 10–15-year sentence for unlawful imprisonment — is now facing open murder and evidence tampering charges tied to the 2010 disappearance of the three brothers.

In the statement, the family said, “Our priority has always been — and continues to be — finding out what happened to Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner and seeking justice for them. We ask that the investigation be allowed to proceed thoroughly and without interference so that the truth may finally come to light.”

The family expressed appreciation for community members who have supported them over the past fifteen years, noting the continued public concern for the three missing children.

Court records show the new case remains open in District Court. An arraignment date has not yet been posted.
