LENAWEE CO. — A Lenawee County man has won a $25,000-a-year-for-life prize from the Michigan Lottery.
According to the Lottery, Onsted resident Douglas Higgins matched five white balls in the Oct. 27 Lucky For Life drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at the Meijer store on West Carleton Road in Hillsdale.
Higgins typically checks his tickets by writing down the winning numbers. Lottery officials said he realized he had matched all five and later confirmed the prize at Lottery headquarters.
He chose a one-time lump-sum payment of $390,000. The Lottery reports he plans to use the money to help his family, pay off his home, and save the remainder.
Lucky For Life tickets cost $2 and drawings take place nightly. Players can purchase tickets at retailers statewide or online.
