LENAWEE CO. — The Lenawee Community Foundation is stepping up to help local families following the temporary pause in federal SNAP benefits.

This week, the Foundation is distributing eleven thousand dollars in grants to food pantries across Lenawee County to help stock shelves and support emergency food distribution.

Its Hunters Helping Lenawee program has already donated more than two thousand pounds of venison to local food programs, about nine hundred pounds more than this time last year.

Foundation President and CEO Bronna Kahle says they’re staying proactive and working with partners like the South Michigan Food Bank to ensure no one goes hungry.

The Foundation also provided a $10,000 match grant to Share the Warmth to help the shelter stay open through the winter.
