ADRIAN Adrian Mayor Angie Heath has issued a proclamation recognizing National Family Literacy Day and honoring the Lucy Walcott Barnum chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their efforts to promote literacy.

During last Monday’s City Commission meeting, Mayor Heath was joined by chapter regent Marcia Cole, as well as representatives from the Adrian Rea Literacy Center, as she read the proclamation.

The proclamation was written to coincide with the 31st National Family Literacy Day, which occurred on November 1st.

In the proclamation, Mayor Heath expressed gratitude for the work of local librarians, educators, and literacy service providers, and encouraged Adrian residents to read together with their families.
