
ERIE TWP. — A man was arrested Thursday after leading police on a vehicle pursuit starting in Erie Township and abandoning his car in Toledo, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after 9:00 AM, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Carena stopped a vehicle on Interstate 75, near Erie Road, for a traffic violation.
The driver, along with two occupants, fled southbound on Interstate 75 before leaving the interstate at Alexis Rd in Toledo.
After losing sight of the vehicle, police found it abandoned at an area business in the 1000 block of Alexis Rd.
Officers from the Toledo Police Department and Washington Township Police Department found the driver hiding nearby, in the bathroom at a public restaurant, within three hours of the incident.
The passengers from the vehicle eluded capture, but are not believed to pose any risk to the public.
The driver, a 27-year-old male with ties to the Metro-Detroit area, was arrested and lodged at the Lucas County Jail, pending full extradition.
His identity is not being released at this time.
