He was born on July 25, 1958, in Napoleon, Ohio, the son of Randall J. and Norma Jean (Gerken) Schudel.
Steve graduated from Hudson High School and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1982. Upon returning to civilian life, Steve worked as an insurance agent at Combined Insurance for several years. He later stayed busy as a handy man and as a cook at local restaurants around the area.
On February 9, 2005, Steve married Shirley Jacobs in Toledo, Ohio, and they celebrated over 20 years together.
In his younger years, Steve was very active in his church, Trinity Lutheran, in Goshen, Indiana with his parents. He was an altar server as well as helping with construction projects as the church expanded. Later in life, Steve grew fond of Westerns, that turned into a shared appreciation with his mother. Every day at 3:30 in the afternoon, snacks were picked out, with anything Hershey’s at the top of the list, seats were selected and the Western of the day was on the television.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, Steve is survived by his mother, Norma Jean Schudel; four sons, Alan, Daniel, Christopher, and James; as well as six grandchildren.
Following Steve’s wishes, cremation will take place with no services scheduled at this time.
