Evelyn I. Gonser, age 85, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility surrounded by family, while under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee.
Evelyn ” Evie” was born on January 12, 1940, in North Platte, Nebraska, the daughter of Rev. Earl Stalker and Anna Swede (Kern) Geer. She graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School.
On June 13, 1958, Evie was united in marriage to Kenneth H. Gonser at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington, MI. In their 62 years together, they were blessed with three daughters and much love and laughter before Ken’s death in 2020.
Evie had a lifelong love of sports. In her younger years, she was an active participant, playing both softball and hockey, and she carried that enthusiasm throughout her life. In her later years, she became an ultra fan of her favorite teams – the Lions, Tigers, and Spartans. Family and friends knew every victory, and remaining loyal through every heartbreaking loss. Her positive outlook was her trademark, and she loved her family with all of her heart and without condition, finding her greatest joy in their company and accomplishments. During her five years at Lenawee Medical Care, her warmth and sunny way brightened the days of staff and residents alike, and she was deeply loved in return.
Evie is survived by her daughters, Terri (Mitchell) Fields, Kim (Jeff) Langley, and son-in-law, Ben Stornant; seven grandchildren, Zachary (Pao) Stornant, Lindsey (Thad) Mills, Trevor Stornant, Chelsea Fields (Chris Genovese), Abby Fields (Anthony Tavares), Joshua (Nicole) Langley and Jordan Langley (Mason Watrous); six great grandchildren, Mila and David Stornant, Lia and Livia Mills, and Lucas and Lillian Stornant; twin sisters, Barbetta Raymond and Betty Morris; sisters-in-law, Lynn Geer, Maria Gonser-Fry, and Marylynn Gonser.
