Ronald James Holbrook, age 92, passed away early Friday, October 31, 2025 at Trinity Health, formerly St. Joseph Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI.
Ron was born on July 15, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Margie (Wrightsman) Holbrook. After graduating from high school, Ron went into the United States Air Force.
On July 6, 1982, he married Lorene (Lay) Sally. Their marriage blended two families, and Ron went from being a dad of one daughter to a dad of four daughters. His easy-going manner and nurturing personality was felt by everyone who knew him. When Lorene dealt with health issues later in life, Ron never missed a beat and provided the support and care she needed. Ron and Lorene celebrated 35 years together before her death in 2017.
Ron worked as a machine repair journeyman for over 30 years at Motor Wheel Corporation in Ypsilanti, MI. He attended West Rome Baptist Church. Ron was a skilled woodworker and could fix anything. He was the happiest when he was working on a project. Ron liked watching football and following the teams.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol (Michael) Creger and Sandra (Glenn) Ross; many wonderful grandchildren; and brothers, John and Bobby Holbrook. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene; daughters Rhonda Holbrook and Carol Wallen; sister, Beverly Lou Meadows and brothers, Bill, Earl and Rick Holbrook.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025, at noon at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, Michigan.
