BLISSFIELD — The Village of Blissfield has planted 18 new trees across the community thanks to a grant from Consumers Energy and support from the Blissfield Rotary Club.

According to Village Administrator Danielle Gross, Blissfield received a $2,000 Consumers Energy Community Street and Boulevard Tree Planting Grant. The Rotary Club also contributed $3,200 toward the project.

The funding helped add trees along U.S. 223 and in nearby neighborhoods, including crabapple and redbud varieties. The planting was completed in partnership with Natural Lawn Care and Landscaping LLC.

Gross said the project is part of a larger effort to promote urban forestry and improve the village’s green spaces.
