LENAWEE CO. — Adrian-based community group Hope In Action has launched a countywide food drive to support families affected by the state’s suspension of November SNAP benefits.
More than 1.4 million Michigan residents, including over 11,000 in Lenawee County, rely on SNAP assistance. The average Michigan household receives about $335 a month for food, and the pause leaves many families struggling to meet basic needs.
The November Emergency Food Drive runs through November 30. Drop-off locations include The Align Center on East Church Street, the Adrian District Library, and the Lenawee County Courthouse each Saturday from 11:30 to 1 p.m.
Requested donations include canned fruits and vegetables, soups, meats, rice, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, baby formula, and other nonperishable foods.
Monetary donations will be used for grocery gift cards.
