ADRIAN — The Lenawee Intermediate School District, in cooperation with Jackson College and all eleven Lenawee County constituent districts, announced the Lenawee County Early College program during the LISD Board of Education meeting on Monday.

The Lenawee County Early College will offer a pathway for students to earn a high school diploma while also completing up to 60 transferable college credits, an associate’s degree, an industry credential, or participating in a registered apprenticeship. Courses will be taught across local high schools, the LISD TECH Center, and Jackson College.

Students will be eligible to participate in their high school graduation ceremonies after their fourth year, while completing the program in a fifth year. A Cooperative Agreement, which was approved October 10th, states that each district will fund tuition and fees for enrolled students at a rate of $136 per credit hour, a $35 per credit student services fee, an $83 per course textbook fee, and a $10 fee per 3-credit online course.

Programs will be managed through an Advisory Council consisting of one representative from LISD, Jackson College, and each participating district. In addition to the Early College, the LISD will continue to offer the JC/LISD Academy, the Regional Middle College, which operates outside of the local high school setting.
