Adrian fire crews respond to dryer fire on S. Charles Street

ADRIAN — Adrian Fire Department crews were called at 9:06 p.m. Sunday to an apartment building at 128 South Charles Street for smoke in the building.

All occupants had evacuated before crews arrived. Fire alarms were active and campus public safety reported a dryer fire in the basement.

Firefighters found an active fire in a dryer. The fire was quickly put out and held to the appliance of origin.

The building was ventilated and residents were allowed to go back inside. Utilities to the dryer were shut off. Power remains on for the rest of the building.

Adrian Police, Adrian College Campus Safety, and automatic aid from Madison, Raisin, and Adrian Township fire departments assisted on scene.

No injuries were reported.
