LENAWEE CO. — A new national survey finds most Michiganders do not want certain jobs replaced by artificial intelligence.
The survey asked more than 4,000 people which jobs should always be done by humans. In Michigan, police officers ranked first, followed by teachers, judges, social workers and doctors or surgeons.
Researchers said 92% of Michigan respondents believe some jobs should never be replaced by AI. Most also said they trust a human more than a computer with important or sensitive decisions.
The survey found only 35% of people would be comfortable with AI handling emergency 911 calls. Most said they want technology to assist workers, not replace them.
The report also noted that nearly one in five Michigan managers said they would replace employees with AI if the option became available.
