LENAWEE CO. — The Lenawee Intermediate School District will hold a special meeting November 18 to talk about starting school before Labor Day.
The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at the LISD Education Service Center on North Adrian Highway.
The LISD has applied to the state for a waiver that would let the LISD and its 11 public school districts start classes before Labor Day for the next three school years. If the waiver is granted, districts may choose to start before the holiday, but they would not be required to. If the waiver is denied, districts must start after Labor Day.
A representative from the Michigan Department of Education will attend the hearing by remote connection. The public may speak during the comment period.
The waiver request is posted at lisd.us/labordaywaiver.
