RITA T. VACLAVEK, age 94 years of Tecumseh, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
October 21, 2025, at Brookdale, Adrian. She was born on September 16, 1931 in Detroit,
Michigan, the daughter of Frank J. and Mary (Bolak) Turowski. Rita graduated from St. Andrews
High School in Detroit in 1949. She married Louis S. Vaclavek on April 28, 1951 at St. Luke’s
Catholic Church in Detroit. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1980.
Rita was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was a prior member of the St.
Francis Guild and Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed teaching line dancing, traveling, and playing
cards.
Left to cherish Rita’s memory are her children, Louis Vaclavek, George (Susan) Vaclavek, Gregory
Vaclavek, Robert Vaclavek, Jacqueleen Magon and Suzanne (Rodney Cadell) Vaclavek;
grandchildren, Alexandra, Kristina (Mike), Gerard, Jack, Grace (April), Gustav and Richard (Emily);
a sister, Margaret Kooyers and sister-in-law, Pauline Turowski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three children; Gerard, Stephen and Mary Lynn
Vaclavek. Three brothers, Frank, Gerald and Jerome; two sisters, Rosemary and Laura.
The family will receive friends for visitation at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on Friday, October
24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral Liturgy beginning at noon with Father Mike Newman
officiating. Cremation will follow. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in St.
Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
