Judith Ann Craig – Tecumseh

Judith Ann Craig, age 84 of Tecumseh passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian. She was born on January 18, 1941, in Van Wert, Ohio, daughter of the late Oakley and Monema (Blakey) Baxter. She spent her childhood in Tecumseh, Michigan and graduated from Tecumseh High School. On September 30, 1961, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh she married Donald Dean Craig and they shared 61 happy years together.

 

Judy graduated from Stautzenberger College in Maumee, Ohio. She worked at the Tecumseh Products for 18 years, culminating in her position as the Executive Secretary for the Chairman of the Board and the CEO.

 

Judy was confirmed at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and later served as the Church Secretary. She was active in the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Care Group and the Lutheran Girl Pioneers.

 

Judy was an avid quilter and accomplished seamstress. For many years she made most of her own clothes and those of her daughters. In later years, she focused on quilting, making beautiful quilts for her home, her children and her grandchildren.

 

Judy and Dean started traveling with their daughters in a pop-up in 1968 and ended their days on the road in a fifth wheel in 2016. They traveled to every state and enjoyed many trips abroad and cruises with friends.

 

Judy is survived by two daughters, Diane (David) Bloom of Chelsea and Lisa Craig of Ann Arbor; sister Linda (Dan) DeVincenzo of Fairfax, CA; sisters-in-law, Sharon Baxter of Brooklyn and Darlene Wood of Port Richey, FL; four grandchildren, Cara (Dhruv Saxena) Bloom of San Francisco, CA, Audrey Bloom (Piper Sigrest) of Burien, WA, Elizabeth Davis-Craig and Robert Davis-Craig both of Ann Arbor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Craig, brother Ronald Baxter, sisters-in-law Donna Bartram and Barbara Cole; brothers-in-law, Milton Bartram and Robert Wood; and her in-laws Donald and Bessie Craig.

 

In accordance with Judy’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 10 am – 11 am on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh. A celebration of life will follow at 11 am with Pastor Michael Bater officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.
