OGDEN TWP. — The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says a reported theft of construction equipment in Ogden Township turned out to be a misunderstanding.
Deputies had responded Wednesday morning to a home on Crockett Highway near Horton Road, where an asphalt company reported a missing gas-powered plate compactor.
A man was seen on camera taking the equipment and driving off, but later contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Officials confirmed he was not a suspect, and the equipment was safely returned to its owner.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for its help and said no charges will be filed.
