
David Howard Jones, age 82, of Adrian, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. He is now playing the largest pipe organ in Heaven, accompanying the heavenly choir.
He was born in Marion, Ohio on January 7, 1943, to Pastor J. Howard and LuVena (Post) Jones. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in the class of 1961. After high school, David attended and graduated from Tennessee Temple College, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music. While there he met the love of his life, Shirlee, who was also a musician. They married June 26, 1965, and celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
David taught music at Northwestern High School for 10 years. He also taught music at Pensacola Christian College. He and his wife have played the piano and organ together for 60 years, ministering in churches in Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, and Michigan. David was also employed at U.S. Airways for 26 years.
To cherish his memory, David leaves his loving wife. Shirlee; a daughter, Stephanie (Derek) Helinski; brother, Daniel Jones; four grandchildren: Ryan (Kylee VanBrunt) Helinski, Andrew (Andi Anderson) Helinski, Trey Helisnki, and Alexys (Gideon) Morris; and two great grandchildren, Amelia and Asher Helinski.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Howard Jones; foster sister, Lillian Martin; and infant brother, Stephen Jones.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Brooklyn, located at 402 S. Mill Street in Brooklyn, Michigan, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. until the start of service at 11:00 a.m.
