Cheryl Marie Pickney, surrounded by her family, passed away on October 9, 2025. She was born on November 12, 1953, to Millard Sr. and Genevieve (Romanoski) Pickney in Adrian, Michigan. She graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1971 and went on to earn her degrees from Ferris State University. Cheryl had a long career as a registered nurse and administrator in various leadership roles, retiring from the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
In 1985, Cheryl met the love of her life, Dorothy, and they spent 41 years together, marrying in 2015. Together they raised their son, Thomas Pickney, and in 2019 they welcomed their grandson, Remington.
Anyone who knew Cheryl loved her. She was known for her sense of humor, kindness, and deep love for her family—especially her beloved nieces and nephews. She was everyone’s favorite aunt.
Surviving in addition to her wife, Dorothy, are sons, Thomas and Ted; grandsons, Seth and Remington; granddaughter, Kully, Cheryl; her siblings, Millard (Charlotte) Pickney, Charlotte (Gary) Owen, and Michael (Kathie) Pickney; her nieces and nephews, Christine (Jim), Michelle (Jeff), Lisa (Jill), Nathan (Holly), Laura (Paul), Matt, Jennifer (Christopher), Beth (Brian), and Emily (Roy); and 20 great- nieces and nephews.
Cheryl will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
At Cheryl’s request, there will be a private family gathering to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as Cheryl had a special love for dogs and children.
