ADRIAN — The Adrian Fire Department is strengthening both firefighter safety and local education.
This week, City Commissioners approved using grant funds to warranty, clean, and calibrate the department’s self-contained breathing apparatus fit testing units. The equipment ensures firefighters’ masks are properly sealed and safe during emergencies.
Commissioners also approved a new partnership with Lansing Community College. The agreement allows students to complete job shadowing and field training with Adrian firefighters and EMTs, giving them real-world experience at no cost to either party.
Officials say both actions will improve readiness and build future connections in public safety careers.
