BLISSFIELD — The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says one person died in a crash on Wednesday afternoon on US-223 near Rodesiler Highway.
Deputies say a car and a semi-truck hit head-on around 3:40 p.m. Both vehicles caught fire after the crash.
The car’s driver, a 45-year-old man from Blissfield, died at the scene. The semi-truck driver, a 63-year-old man from Findlay, Ohio, was able to escape. He was taken to a Toledo hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Deputies say the Tesla car crossed into the eastbound lane before the crash. They are still looking into why. Investigators do not yet know if drugs, alcohol, or a seatbelt were factors.
The Sheriff’s Office says the crash is still under investigation.
