ADRIAN — The Adrian Dominican Sisters have released a statement after the deadly shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

The Sisters said the attack, which killed two worshippers and left several others injured, shows the urgent need for stronger gun laws. They called on Congress to ban military-style assault weapons and ensure safe and responsible gun use.

The Sisters also noted that people of faith have faced violence in churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples across the country in recent years. They said it is disturbing to think that places of worship may now need the same security barriers as schools.

The Adrian Dominican Sisters urged elected leaders to act and invited people of all faiths to join them in prayer for the victims of gun violence and in support of laws that make communities safer.
