MADISON — Students at Madison High School now have a chance to get a head start on college.
A new agreement between Adrian College, the Madison School District, and the Michigan Department of Education allows students in Madison’s Biomedical Science program to earn college credits.
The program, called Project Lead the Way, gives students hands-on experience in science and healthcare. Courses include Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems and Anatomy, and Medical Intervention.
If students finish the courses with a grade of B or better, they can receive credits toward classes at Adrian College, such as Medical Terminology or Human Anatomy Lab.
School leaders say this saves families money on tuition and gives students a direct path into medical careers.
The partnership was signed in August and builds on Madison’s biomedical program, which has been running since 2013.
