Ethel “May” Crow, age 81, of Adrian, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian. She was born June 29, 1944, in Adrian, to Donald H. and Ethel (Mills) Dewey. On August 21, 1965, she married Paul Crow. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2000. May was a meticulous recordkeeper and had been employed as the Deputy Drain Commissioner and then later as the Lenawee County Treasurer.

Ethel is survived by son, Kevin (Jeanette) Crow; and one grandson, Spencer (Emily) Crow. In addition to her parents, parents-in-law and her husband, Paul, she was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Crow; and brothers, Dalon and David Dewey.

May’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. The losses too soon of Paul and Kirk were heartbreaks

she never got over, but she continued to shower her love and support on the rest of her family in years since.

She loved her “daughter” Jeanette and was thankful she had the same relationship with her that she had with her

own mother-in-law, “Bea”. Her only grandchild, Spencer, was the apple of her eye and she couldn’t be prouder of him. She was always looking for opportunities to connect with him and even got a temporary tattoo to surprise him with on one of his visits. In assisted living, she found new friends among the staff and residents and enjoyed the activities and conversations they shared. In her time by herself, she did puzzles and crosswords and watched her favorite show: “NCIS”. She thoroughly enjoyed visits from her family, especially from Spencer, Emily and Grimm, their dog. She talked about them for days after (especially Grimm).

Additionally, she enjoyed reading (voraciously) which made her formidable at her favorite game, Scrabble. She

was intelligent and industrious, sewing and crocheting clothes, afghan blankets, quilts and doll clothes which

she gifted and sold. Her other passions were growing flowers indoors and out, playing cards, camping, fishing,

genealogy and taking drives in the country with Paul. (She even enjoyed being a Cub Scout den mother after

Kevin volunteered her for the job.) She shared Paul’s love of country music but also enjoyed Elvis and Chuck

Berry, which was the spark that ignited Kevin’s love of rock ‘n’ roll and the guitar, buying him his first for

Christmas one year.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Pastor Jamie Driskill will officiate, and burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian.
