Lauren Bennett Frye, age 79, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Adrian, Michigan. He was born on May 14, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, to George and Frances (Fogelson) Frye.
Lauren graduated from Blissfield High School in 1965 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam era and was stationed primarily in Iceland. His time in the military reflected his steadfast commitment and sense of duty.
Following his military service, Lauren returned home and began working for the City of Adrian in the Department of Public Works. Outside of work, he immersed himself in his passions. A true enthusiast of all things fast and loud, he found joy in fishing, riding his Harley, and driving his beloved 1965 Chevy Nova—his pride and joy. He was a familiar face at local car shows where he spent countless hours with his car buddies, sharing stories and admiring classic machines.
In 2010, Lauren became a founding member of the Tecumseh Harley Owner Group Chapter 1264. His involvement helped shape a vibrant community of riders who shared his love for the open road and camaraderie that came with it.
A devoted fan of motorsports and Michigan athletics, Lauren followed NHRA drag racing and NASCAR with enthusiasm. Saturdays were often reserved for cheering on University of Michigan football, while Sundays brought hope for his Detroit Lions.
Lauren is survived by his close cousin, Elona Frye; brother, Larry (Sue) Frye; as well as many other cousins, a nephew, and a niece who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Frye.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services for Lauren will be held at Palmyra Cemetery on Friday, October 17, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm with military rights being performed by the Blissfield American Legion Post 325.
