ADRIAN — The 5th Annual Teacher and Counselor Externship Awards were held this week at the Align Center in Adrian.

The program connects teachers and counselors with local businesses for two weeks each summer. By working in the community, educators learn about careers and workplace skills they can share with students.

This year, 22 teachers and counselors joined the program at 17 local sites. Employers included the City of Adrian, Meijer, Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee, the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, and many others.

Along with the educators, a student from Onsted High School was honored for completing an internship at the county courthouse.

The program is a partnership between the Align Center for Workforce Development, Lenawee Now, and the Lenawee Intermediate School District.
