BERRIEN CO. — A Berrien County man has won $150,000 playing the Powerball game with the Michigan Lottery, after his second time playing.
Michael Werner of Buchanan matched four white balls and the Powerball in the Sept. 1 drawing to win $50,000. Because he added the Power Play option, his prize was tripled to $150,000.
He bought his winning ticket online.
Werner said it was only the second time he had ever played Powerball. He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to travel and pay bills.
