Steven Hollis Walker – Tecumseh

Steven Hollis Walker, age 72, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born on July 22, 1953, in Manchester, MI, the son of the late Hollis and Clarissa (Walcutt) Walker. On April 21, 1984, in Tecumseh, MI, he married Judith Lynn McVay, and they shared over 41 years together. In his early years, Steven owned a gas station in Allen, MI, and later worked at the Chrysler Proving Grounds as a driver mechanic for 30 years before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the UAW, enjoyed camping with his family, working in his barn, and watching racing. He was a member of a late-model dirt racing crew, which he considered some of his greatest accomplishments as a young man. His life passion has been Civil War history, most important to him, Gettysburg. One of his most cherished moments was traveling to Gettysburg this year with his four children and each of their families.

Along with his wife, Judy, he is survived by his children: April (Kent) Meyer of Hillsdale, MI; Janie (Eddie Lynch) Misner of Jonesville, MI; Matthew (Carmen) Walker of San Antonio, TX; and Eric Walker of Tecumseh, MI. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Samantha (Zachary) Cornwall, Dusti (Chase) Oberlin, Jeffery Loomis, Rebecca Lynch, Anabel Sifuentes, Ryleigh Walker, Makayla Walker, and Jaxson Walker; five great-grandchildren: Ashlynn, Ivory, Dawson, Aspen, and Bryson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Diane Zincke, Patricia Dwyer, and Holly Sue Walker.

Visitation for Steven will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 5–8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Hawkins officiating. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Battlefield Trust.
