Larry D. King, born November 22, 1932, in Ogden Station, Michigan, to Earl and Cora King, and raised by his grandparents, Clair and Elva Wotring King, passed into eternal rest on September 19, 2025. He lived a life marked by love, family, and hard work. On February 2, 1952, he married the love of his life, Lois Bohlka. Together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2009. Larry and Lois built a beautiful family, raising four children—David (Diane), Gary, Kevin, and Kayleen(Daniel)—and later welcoming seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Rob) Keaton, Andrea (Jeff) Bash, Elizabeth (Donny) Lambright, Jenny King, Garrett (Kathryn) King, Kierstyn King, Kalynah (Zach) Zychowicz, and Jeffrey Miller and fifteen great-grandchildren Silas, Maren, Atticus, and Norah Keaton, Jeffrey, Abigail, Lena, and Jocelyn Bash, Nolan, Adaline, Liam, and Everly Lambright, Marleigh and Maxton Cook, and Elsie King into their lives.
Starting as a janitor at Clinton Engines, he later began running tools and became a journeyman tool maker. An entrepreneur, Larry started a heating, cooling, and plumbing business out of his home. Later, in 1965, Larry and Lois founded King Tool and Die in Adrian, a machine shop that continues to thrive as a testament to his vision and work ethic. King Tool developed a high speed process special machine for making a refrigeration component and these machines were shipped worldwide. Beyond his career, he cherished time spent outdoors, especially salmon fishing with his half brother Ron. Some of his happiest moments were summers spent at the cottage on Devil’s Lake, family vacations with Lois, their children, and grandchildren—many of which were taken in the motorhome, filled with laughter, and stories that will be remembered for years to come.
Larry is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one half brother, sister in law and two half sisters, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lois and a half brother Dale Bohlka, half brother Ronald Craig and sister in law Janice Craig.
Though deeply missed, Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. His family finds comfort knowing his spirit lives on in the memories they hold and in the generations who were blessed to know and love him.
In lieu of flowers, Larry requests that everyone enjoys a toast of their favorite drink in his memory.
