LENAWEE CO. — Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority is adding two new naloxone boxes in Lenawee County.

The project is supported by a grant from the Opioid Prevention and Education Network.

Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is a medicine that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose. The new boxes will be available 24 hours a day and will provide free kits with two doses and instructions.

The boxes are being placed at Mike’s Pharmacy in Morenci and The Thrifty Hippie in Hudson.

Executive Director Kathryn Szewczuk said the effort is an important part of helping the community fight the opioid crisis.

Lenawee Community Mental Health says it will continue to focus on prevention, treatment, and harm reduction to address substance use in the county.
