Judith Ann “Judy” Wickham Kastel, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Adrian, Michigan.

Born on April 10, 1944, in Auburn, Alabama, Judy was the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Goodwin) Wickham. She moved to Michigan during her youth and graduated from Adrian High School in 1962. Her passion for education led her to Eastern Michigan University, where she earned her bachelor of arts degree—laying the foundation for a lifelong career at Tecumseh Public Schools dedicated to teaching and shaping young minds for 37 years. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh and the Lenawee County Retired School Personnel.

Family was at the heart of Judy’s life. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She found her greatest joy spending time with her grandchildren and took immense pride in their lives and every single one of their accomplishments. Her face would light up with a radiant smile every time she heard from them. She was known for her tremendous heart, her quick wit and humor, and her deep affection. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and special. She always ensured each person knew they were treasured. She will be remembered as a woman of deep love, unwavering devotion, and quiet strength. Her love will forever reside in our hearts.

Judy devoted herself wholeheartedly to her students throughout her career as an educator. She loved teaching and took great pride in the impact she made on countless students. She genuinely cared for her students and enjoyed keeping in touch with them throughout the years. Her dedication extended beyond the classroom; she volunteered with the Hope program and remained deeply connected to the educational community even after retirement. Twice a week, she gathered with fellow retired teachers and employees of Tecumseh Schools to play cards and enjoy each other’s company—a tradition that brought her immense joy.

To cherish her memory, Judy leaves her son Ed (Jennifer) Kastel; her daughter Corinne Kastel; and her five grandchildren: Cody (Mariah), Ryan, Madeline, Brandon, and Isabelle. Judy also leaves behind two brothers, Steve Wickham and John Wickham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Agnes (Goodwin) Wickham, and her brother, Don Wickham.

A memorial service in honor of Judy will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service.

The family will be available to greet guests and accept condolences at 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

A private family burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian, where Judy will be laid to rest alongside her parents. Cremation has been completed, and all arrangements have been made with the guidance of Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
