ADRIAN — Gleaner Life Insurance Society held its annual Patriots Day Blood Drive on September 11 at its home office in Adrian.
Ron Horstman of Adrian Township was the winner of the gift basket drawing. Horstman has been donating blood for more than 20 years and has given more than 100 times. He said he hopes to reach 15 gallons.
This year’s drive brought in 55 donors and collected 44 units of blood for the American Red Cross. The gift basket was filled with Michigan-made items and valued at $150.
The blood drive was held to support the Red Cross during a time of chronic blood shortage.
