MONROE CO. — A new safety program is starting in Monroe County.

The Sheriff’s Office and local first responders have launched a program called SAFE.

SAFE is designed to help police, fire, and medical crews when they respond to people with special needs. This includes residents with autism, Alzheimer’s, PTSD, or diabetes.

Families can register a loved one on the Monroe County website under the Sheriff’s Office section. The registration allows first responders to see important details in their computer system during emergencies.

The program also provides three decals for families to place on homes and cars to alert responders.

Brochures and QR codes are now available in public buildings and senior centers across the county.

For more information, residents can call the Sheriff’s Office Records Division at 734-240-7415.
