Norman Russell Gentner, age 83, of Brooklyn, passed Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. Norman was born on October 13, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Herbert and Dorothy (Willis) Gentner. On October 17, 1964, Norman married Betty Helm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adrian, and she preceded him in death in 2002.

Norman was a member of St Joesph Shrine in Brooklyn. Norman was a board member at Cambridge Township, where he also served on the police and fire departments. Norman also served on the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department dive team. Norman was also a owner of Gentner Trucking for many years. Norman was known as a “Major Workhorse” and was always working on some kind of project. In Norman’s free time, he enjoyed hunting, traveling, and supporting the University of Michigan Football Team and the Detroit Lions.

Norman is survived by his children, Stephanie Waters and Scott Gentner, grandchildren, Zachery Gentner, Rachael Kirkendall, MacKenzie Gutt, Monica Hurley, great-grandchildren, Jonathan Gutt, Abigale Gutt, Maria Gutt, Keiran Gentner, Rhoby Gentner, and Reagan Hurley; siblings, Bill Gentner and Mary Collum. In addition to his wife, Betty, Norman is preceded in death by a son, Todd Gentner, and brother, Joe Gentner.

Visitation for Norman will take place Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church from 10:30 am until the time of the Mass at 11:30 am with Fr. Bob Pienta officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Shrine Cemetery.
