1 Dead In Deerfield Township Crash

DEEFIELD The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash at the intersection of Stearns Highway and McMahon Road in Deerfield Township that left one person dead and two others seriously injured.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a 69-year-old male driver and a 68-year-old female passenger, both from Ida, were driving a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas southbound on Stearns Highway on Saturday.

The driver of the Volkswagen Atlas did not stop at the stop sign at Stearns Highway and McMahon Road and was struck a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse that was traveling eastbound on McMahon Road at approximately 11:37 am.

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was driven by a 42-year-old female from Deerfield.

The occupants of both vehicles were transported to a hospital in Toledo with serious injuries.

The female passenger in the Volkswagen Atlas died at the hospital.

All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

Deputies believe alcohol is not a factor.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Lenawee County Drone Team, Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team, Deerfield Township Fire Department, Madison Township Fire Department, Blissfield Township Fire Department, Adrian City Fire Department and the Summerfield Fire Department from Monroe County.
