ADRIAN — The Maurice Spear Campus is getting ready to move into its new building; staff training will begin next week to prepare for the change.
The detention area will have a practice run on Sept. 29. If everything goes as planned, the move is expected in early October.
The old unit will also see major upgrades. Work will include new doors, windows, and flooring. Renovations will continue until April.
Campus residents have also been active in learning programs. They recently finished a CSI-style course and started a new substance abuse prevention program during the school day.
Officials say the improvements will give staff and residents a safer, more modern space while also adding more educational opportunities.
