ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Materials Management Committee says state grant funds for recycling have finally arrived.

The county received $67,000 for 2025, with a deadline to spend the money by the end of 2026.

Committee members said they are focusing on expanding recycling, which is required by law. Plans for composting may be delayed or adjusted if state support is cut.

The composting pilot program is still a long-term goal, but the county may need to rely more on education and partnerships if full funding does not continue.

Officials also raised concerns about a possible state budget impasse in October. A delay could hold up reimbursements that the program depends on.
