ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Materials Management Program Coordinator shared several updates this week.
On social media, the most popular posts focused on how to dispose of common items, cardboard recycling during Amazon Prime Day, Plastic-Free July, and illegal dumping at the Drop Off Site. A post about mattress disposal also drew attention.
At the county fair, staff gave out refrigerator organizers to reduce food waste and compost guides. A disposal cheat sheet was also handed to groups in the Health and Human Services building.
The county is addressing two illegal dumping cases at the Drop Off Site. Tires and carpet rolls were left illegally, and both cases have been reported to the sheriff.
Repairs cost about $9,000 this year after a compactor breakdown. The site also closed briefly in July when cardboard surged during the holiday week.
