WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a health alert for a frozen pepperoni pizza sold at Trader Joe’s.
The pizzas were made in Italy and shipped to California stores without the required U.S. inspection. The product is no longer being sold, but some boxes may still be in home freezers.
The item under alert is a 17.63-ounce box labeled “Trader Joe’s Uncured Pepperoni Pizza, Product of Italy.” The boxes show lot numbers with “MFG LOT: 06/16/25 Best By 08/16/26” or “MFG LOT: 06/21/25 Best By 08/21/26.”
No illnesses have been reported, but officials say anyone who bought the product should not eat it. The pizzas should be thrown away or returned to the store.
