MORENCI — State Representative Nancy Jenkins-Arno spoke at the Morenci Labor Day Bridge Walk.

She said Michigan has invested $3.1 billion to improve roads and create jobs for workers who build and maintain them. The state also set aside $115 million for public safety, with money going directly to local police and sheriff’s offices.

Jenkins-Arno said schools are now funded at the highest level in state history. She added that districts can use the money as they need, such as hiring teachers, buying buses, or adding free breakfasts and lunches for students.
