TECUMSEH — The City of Tecumseh has hired Assistant City Manager and Police Chief Brett Coker to be the city’s new full-time manager.
During their regular meeting last night, the Tecumseh City Council went into closed session to discuss the terms of Coker’s employment.
Coker was later hired by the council in a unanimous decision, with a $140,000 starting salary.
Coker has served as Police Chief since 2018 and as Assistant City Manager since 2023.
Tecumseh’s former City Manager, Dan Swallow, resigned last month after being offered the City Manager position in Saline.
In his final report as Manager, Swallow thanked the council and acknowledged that his leaving was, quote, “not goodbye,” unquote.
Mayor Brian Radant and Councilmembers Vicki Riddle, Gary Naugle and Austin See each publicly thanked Swallow for his service.
Swallow served in the position for ten years.
WLEN News spoke with both Dan Swallow and Brett Coker after the meeting. We will hear from them in a future newscast.
