ST. IGNACE — More than 33,000 people joined the 2025 Mackinac Bridge Walk on Labor Day.
The walk started from both St. Ignace and Mackinaw City, which meant no busing was needed. The bridge was closed to traffic at 6:30 in the morning and reopened at noon.
The Mackinac Bridge Authority says about 3,000 more people took part this year compared to 2024.
The annual walk has been held every year since 1958, except for 2020 when it was canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s event was the 67th bridge walk.
