RIGA TWP. — The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says one person has died after a crash at US-223 and Riga Highway.
Deputies say it happened Monday evening just after 5:00. A 2023 Rivian Amazon delivery van was heading north and stopped at the sign. The driver pulled into the intersection and was hit by an eastbound Ford Focus.
The 69-year-old Adrian man driving the Focus was taken to a Toledo hospital, where he later died. His passenger, a 63-year-old Adrian woman, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The 25-year-old Perrysburg, Ohio man driving the Amazon van was taken to an Adrian hospital with minor injuries.
Deputies say everyone was wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor.
Blissfield Police and Fire, Madison Township Fire and EMS, and the Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Team also helped at the scene.
