BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield Village Council held three public hearings this week.

The first hearing was on an ordinance to update building rules. The new law puts all building codes into one section. It matches the latest rules from the State of Michigan. The change will also cut down on confusion.

The council also repealed older code sections that were no longer needed. Those covered dangerous structures, plumbing, electrical, property maintenance, and other areas.

Finally, the council approved a change to the compensation ordinance. The update links council pay to the annual wage scale. That way, future changes can be made without rewriting the ordinance each time.

All three ordinances passed with full council support.
