MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is thanking its Animal Control Division for its hard work.
From January to now, officers have written 108 tickets for things like not having dog licenses, not showing rabies shots, and letting pets run loose. They also made 96 police reports, with 14 criminal complaints sent to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Sheriff Troy Goodnough says these officers help keep animals and people safe. They also teach the public about caring for pets and preventing disease.
The Animal Control Division works with groups like the Humane Society and city prosecutors to stop animal cruelty. The team includes Officers Selena Smith, Chad Nation, and Lance Norman, with leadership from Lieutenant Brian Quinn.
