
Norma Mae Hansen, age 93, of Adrian, died early Monday morning, August 18, 2025, at Brookdale of Adrian. She was born October 25, 1931, in Marenisco, MI to Russell F. and Pearl L. (Russell) Shirkey.
On January 29, 1949, she married William Hansen. Together they raised three children and shared 58 years navigating the paths of life before his passing on March 4, 2007.
Along with her husband Bill, she was owner and operator of the former Hansen Sign Company. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church as well as the Tabea Society. Artfully skilled, Norma embraced her creative talents by creating beautiful paintings and various crochet work. For over 20 years, she marketed her artwork at the annual Sand Creek Craft Show. Norma was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Dave) Double of Fairfield; granddaughters, Chantelle (David) Jenkins of Adrian and Kimberly (Chris) Schniers of Stockbridge, MI; as well as 24 additional grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William Arthur Hansen and Ernest Lee Hansen; her four sisters, Betty Lorraine Burton, Vernie Sampson, Jean LaBean, and Beverly Jackson; two brothers, Calvin Lee Shirkey and Alan Shirkey; and a granddaughter, Heather Mae Hansen.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 22, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. An additional hour of visitation will precede the service. Burial will take place in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Adrian.
