TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh City Council has appointed Assistant City Manager and Police Chief Brent Coker as the city’s next Manager.
The decision followed public comment Monday, where residents and former officials praised Coker’s professionalism, leadership, and Tecumseh roots. Some had urged the council to consider a wider search, but the majority of voices supported moving Coker directly into the role.
Mayor Brian Radant strongly backed the appointment, saying, “When we put [Mr.] Coker in as the assistant city manager, that is the longest interview that anyone in this city has been on. He has been on a three year interview for the city manager’s position. Anybody doubts that I will challenge it tooth and nail because everything that he has done has been outstanding.”
Coker now steps into the role of City Manager after serving as both assistant manager and police chief.
