ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners has declared August 31 as Overdose Awareness Day and September as Recovery Month.

The proclamation notes that in 2023, Michigan lost 2,931 people to drug overdoses, including nine from Lenawee County. There were more than 28,000 non-fatal overdose-related emergency visits statewide, with 222 in Lenawee.

During the presentation, Judge Michael Olsaver, who presides over the Veterans Treatment Court, spoke about the ongoing fight against substance abuse disorders.

That was Judge Olsaver.

The Board says the observances aim to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage people to recognize overdose warning signs and support recovery services.
